Commissioned by De Jong & Lavino BV steel merchants, our people at Staalstraal Brabant are working on preservation of steel plates for six new tanks, which are set to be used in the Botlek area.

Ger Brenters: “We are talking a total of around six hundred plates per tank. We abrasive blast these plates first in our fully automated blasting line, and then we move them internally to the spray areas. At our spraying facilities, we manually apply zinc silicate primer from 1 or 2 sides, with an average dry layer thickness of 75 mµ.”

After preservation work in Oosterhout, the plates are shipped to Kersten Europe in Wansum, where they are bent to create the right shape. And finally, the plates are welded together on site in the Botlek port area.
