The Aromatics project is yet another joint project of Bilfinger Brabant Mobiel and Brabant Groep. A project where, as we all know, time is of the essence! In a period of around three months, 7,000m² of piping had to be treated with a protective coating.

These pipes are used in a 14-kilometre piping network, which MOB is laying for an aromatics plant at Shell’s Pernis site. The new aromatics plant will distil benzene from a benzene-rich stream to extract a raw material that can be used for further processing in the chemical industry. The end product is a material that can serve as a base material for rubber, plastic, nylon, and synthetic materials. Staalstraal Brabant wet coated these pipes, while Straco Waspik applied roughly 2,000m² of TSA (Thermal Spray Aluminium). It was another fine example of excellent collaboration! The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2015.
